A cock ring is a loop of plastic, rubber or metal that is worn either around the shaft of the penis or under the scrotum. Beyond being a decoration, there is actually medical science on how this simple device and help penis owners get and maintain erections.
Whan a penis owner becomes aroused, the penile arteries, which take oxygenated blood into the penis, dilate and expand, increasing blood flow. At the same time, the veins, which carry blood out of the penis, narrow, which restricts blood flow out of the penis. As a result, the blood fills two tubes of spongy tissue called the corpus cavernosa. This causes the penis to grow larger and become stiff, hence an erection is achieved. While the veins run shallow near the surface of the skin, the arteries run deeper. When using a cock ring, pressure is applied to further compress the veins helping less blood leave the penis.
I have personally been using cock rings for several years with any problems, but be aware, wearing a cock ring for extended periods of time is not advised and may cause a priapism. An ischaemic priapism is when fresh blood is unable to reach the penile tissue with oxygen and other nutrients essential for tissue survival. Again I am not a doctor, but I have worn a cock ring for 30-60 minutes at a time with no issues.
If you are just starting out, use a cock ring made of a stretchy and flexible material like rubber. This will make it easier to put on and off. Also, they are relatively inexpensive and can be found in multi-packs so you can gauge your girth at home. Once you have used it a few times and are comfortable with how it affects your body, you can move up to metal. This is not for everyone and metal does not produce any better erections, but penis owners like metal as it adds a cold feeling. Just remember to get the proper size as removing a tight ring during an erection, can be difficult.
