How the Disney Half-Marathon is Like BDSM

You guys, I DID IT. I set a goal for myself to run the Disney Half-Marathon this year and this past weekend, I felt the amazing feeling of checking this goal off of my bucket list. While I was going through this surreal experience, I felt some familiar feelings. It kind of reminded me of a good BDSM sesion. Lol.


I’ll explain more below (and share some pics!), however, first I wanted to tell you why this is so important to me.

I know many of you run this ridiculous amount of miles every single day. But, that’s a lot of miles for me! Think about how long it takes to drive 13 miles in a car, much less on my two short legs!!!

Not only was this Disney Half-Marathon a lot of steps for my feetsies, it’s a major personal victory for myself.

It was a personal victory for me

Three years ago, I was rear-ended twice in less than 60 days. Because of these back-to-back auto accidents, I had to have two discs replaces in neck. The recovery made normal tasks challenging, much less a a physical feat like a marathon. It took me so much time and patience to work my way up to even considering something like this.

The car accident flipped a switch in my brain. After going through that, I made the decision to start living my life for me. I began investing time (and money) into the things that I love. I started using the skills I learned in my previous career to help my tarot and relationship coaching businesses THRIVE.

Once I started focusing on my own happiness, the rest of it fell into place. But I will admit… it’s difficult to do for yourself. I had the help of many people, including my partner John. Having a spouse that pays attention to the way I want to be loved made this scary time of change in my life much easier to navigate.

Ok, enough with the mushy stuff, cause I have to share something that kept going through my mind as I was running the Disney Half-Marathon. It’s a lot like a good BDSM sesh. So bear with me while I share some of my pics with my weird new theory.

Running The Disney Half-Marathon Was Like a Satisfying BDSM Session

TONs of mental and physical preparation are needed for both a BDSM session… and running the Disney Half Marathon. Now, think about how long it takes to get your body and mind prepared for running 13 whole miles. A BDSM session is similar in that you have to prepare with your scene partner(s). You must set up clear boundaries and safe words, as well as prepare your bodies mentally & physically.

It’s hard not to use up all your energy at the beginning. With both running and sexing, a lot of anticipation passes before actually doing the thing. This makes it hard to control that burst of energy that’s dying to escape at the beginning of the event! When running, you’ll want to leap out of the gates, trying to get ahead. However, that’ll bite your ass in the end when you’re struggling to keep up. It’s the same thing with BDSM. Slow and steady wins the race, as it were. 🐢

It’s important to stay hydrated. That’s a no brainer for the Disney Half-Marathon. But, it’s something people often forget about when having sex. It’s exercise too, folks! Keep your body hydrated and make your sex sesh a marathon, not a sprint.

Sometimes you run into furries. Need I say more?

It feels f*cking incredible to finish. As enjoyable as orgasms are, there is a special satisfaction to finishing a long, heavy BDSM session. I retreat into my subspace and let myself get taken care of. John knows just what I need. My recovery after the Disney Half-Marathon felt similar.

And, I have to tell you, John’s pure pride in my accomplishment made this even more satisfying. After he watched me struggle every day, seeing his smiling face when I crossed the finish line felt amazing.
