While many people may not think an adult novelty shop a.k.a. sex shop, as a safe place to learn about sex; it is now becoming the place to go for comprehensive sex education. Sex-Positive Shops such as The Pleasure Chestand Good Vibrations have been offering classes, workshops and seminars for several years throughout all their stores.
Good Vibrations even has their own Staff Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen. Who is an amazing speaker and her knowledge, experiences are what books are made.
They are the ones that declared May as National Masturbation Month in honor of Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders who was fired by President Bill Clinton for her statements supporting masturbation for sexual health.
You are probably thinking that is great, why doesn’t Orlando have that. Guess what we do! Fairvilla Megastore does offer classes and seminars as part of their Fairvilla University program. They have their resident sex educator and resource manager Debbie Lee and us to teach classes monthly at all their locations. Sometimes toy
The classes are about 2 hours long, tickets are usually $15 per person, per event. It includes the class, alcohol drinks, take-home wine glass and a 15% off discount. Depending on the class, the class size can be anywhere from 10-30 people.
All the classes are entertaining and are meant to put people in a comfortable zone to learn about the class topic. Classes are offered all year round. As you can see from the photo below there are a variety of classes to choose from.
As you can see there is a variety of classes to choose from each month. Some of these classes sell out very quickly and some are small intimate classes to help start a conversation and receive answers without being judged for being curious.
As sex educators we support each other work and collaborate as much as possible to create the best classes possible. We are always open to suggest from the audience and shoppers on what kind of classes they would like to see.
We can provide a workshop for private parties, bachelorette parties, dinner parties or any type of parties. People are always looking for a great way to have a fun entertaining night at the same time learn something new.
